Hey, what’s up? It’s Square Glade Games here, and we’re totally jazzed about bringing Outbound, our chill open-world exploration thing, to PlayStation 5. So you start with this empty camper van, and whether you’re flying solo or with up to four pals, you go off scavenging, crafting stuff, and turning that camper into your cozy little haven as the world changes around you. Pretty neat, huh?
I’m Marc Volger, one of the co-founders – nice to meet ya! I thought I’d drop in to intro Outbound to our amazing PlayStation community. I’ll spill some deets about what you can get up to in the game. Oh, and Tobi Schnackenberg, my fellow co-founder, will pop in to chat about what sparked the idea for this game or whatever.
We’ve got this word for Outbound: “cozyvival.” Kind of weird, right? But it just fits. After Alpha testing, we noticed folks loved these survival bits like managing energy, hunting materials, and growing food, all without the stress. Other games tend to pick a side, but we think we nailed it with this cozy-meets-survival vibe. That sweet balance is where Outbound really shines.
Now, you can totally soak in a solo adventure if that’s your jam. Imagine off-grid vibes, gathering all your bits and bobs and turning your camper into whatever you want—so chill and empowering. Then again, you can play with up to three friends. It’s a different animal with others, like cranking up the volume on a real-life road trip. Teaming up isn’t a must, but it’s a blast, we reckon. Oh, and with PS5, we’re pumped about the PlayStation Portal—how you can just kick back with friends, all playing together. I mean, who doesn’t want to lug it around on an actual road trip?
As for inspiration (drumroll, please): Tobi’s got a tale. He went on this road trip from Germany to the Netherlands and spotted an old camper van cruising by these solar panels and windmills. We were in the early game-building phase, and bam! The electric camper van idea was born—sustainability and all that good stuff.
Now we’ve woven sustainability into the game big time. The sun, wind, rain—they’re not just background noise. They’re energy sources. And recycling litter gives you van upgrades. It’s not just for show; it’s like, “Look, sailboats, not big tankers.” Aesthetic choices for the win, right?
Dog lovers, gather ’round! Yep, you’ve got a pupper with you on this Outbound journey. And yeah, you can pet the dog (cue the collective aww). This guy’s more than just a furry face—you can train them to fetch stuff, help carry things back to your van. It’s adding layers to the whole cozyvival experience.
Video games are wild, right? They whisk us away to distant worlds full of magical creatures and epic quests. But sometimes we crave a little escape that’s rooted in reality—and that’s where Outbound thrives. We’re seriously amped to kickstart your next adventure when Outbound hits PS5. See you out there!
