Castlevania Absent from Konami Event, Yet New Game in Series ‘Still on the Way’

Wow, so Konami threw this big shindig—Press Start, they called it. You’d think with all the blaring tunes and flashy lights, fans would be jazzed, but nope, not the Castlevania folks. Nada. Zilch. New Castlevania game? Nowhere in sight. The rumors are hanging in there, though—like a stubborn cat refusing to get off your keyboard. Castlevania, or Akumajo Dracula for my pals across the pond, is all about Dracula and these Belmont vampire hunters. If you’ve never heard of it, where’ve you been since 1986?? Just a classic, started on Nintendo’s Famicom Disk System.

On a happier note—Silent Hill fans got a treat! A brand-spanking-new Silent Hill remake’s in the works. Yep. Back from the ’99 vault. Bloober Team, those folks behind the Silent Hill 2 Remake, are taking the reins. Saw a glimpse of the new logo, but they’re playing it coy with the details. Tease.

Hold up, what? Right, so, Konami’s event had the gamers buzzing, except for the poor Castlevania herd. Rewind to a rumor from VGC’s Andy Robinson, who’s been chirping about a new Castlevania. Someone poked him on Twitter about that and he chirped back, “Still coming AFAIK.” What does that even mean? Ah, games and their mysterious ways. Robinson was whispering about a “reimagining” with some extra help from outside studios. Fingers crossed?
