Whoa. Okay, so get this. I never thought I’d be writing about my latest obsession, Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, colliding head-first with my old favorite, Star Wars. Seriously, if someone had told me Cal Kestis from Jedi games would vibe with Rumi, Zoey, and Mira from HUNTR/X, I’d have laughed. Like, what?!
Turns out, they’re all about slaying enemies and doing it with style. Didn’t see that coming.
This crazy good video by AnimatedJen—shoutout if you need something awesome to kick off your morning—has Cal teaming up with Bode Akuna and Nightsister Merrin. All against a killer HUNTR/X track. It’s wild. They might not be jumping out of crashing planes, but wow, their moves against Empire goons? Epic. Random thought: the sound of their punches feels like popcorn popping. Don’t ask why, it just does.
Bode’s all like, “Want some more?” and Cal goes for it, literally kicking a shoretrooper. Then Bode’s flying in—jetpack and all—and bam! Merrin with her twirling staff move? Goosebumps, seriously. And then, a minute left? Forget it, I’m hyped.
I’ve been into AnimatedJen’s YouTube stuff forever. They’ve crafted this whole universe where, believe it or not, Cal’s an Inquisitor. Talk about dedication. Anyway, wouldn’t it be nuts if these Jedi characters made it to live-action? Fans are pulling for it.
Star Wars fandom is something else. Fans love remixing stuff, and hey, maybe Cal, Merrin, and yep, even Bode (long story with him) get powered by K-Pop. Who’s gonna argue? Not me. MANT/S squad, anyone? Cere Junda as manager? Somebody write this on AO3, please. Also, modders, those outfits? Let’s get on that.
I’m off to fire up Jedi: Fallen Order again and blast “Takedown.” Time to slice-and-dice those Imperial scum.
