Yo, so there I was, just browsing the web, when BAM! A leak about a new A Plague Tale game smacks me right in the face. Can you believe it? Just before a supposed big reveal too. Oh, and if you didn’t know, the last we saw of this series was with A Plague Tale: Requiem, which hit PCs and consoles back in 2022.
Asobo Studio, the magicians behind these games, really went from “who are they?” to “wow, these guys are awesome!” Remember A Plague Tale: Innocence? It totally blew everyone away with its stunning graphics and heartwarming sibling duo. Siblings during the Black Death era, rats everywhere. Sounds intense, right? The sequel, Requiem, dove deeper into the supernatural stuff. Big sis Amicia’s still struggling to guard her little bro, who has this mysterious condition and, naturally, there’s evil folks wanting to exploit it. Classic sibling protective vibes!
Anyway—wait, no—back to the leak. Focus Entertainment let the cat out of the bag (or should I say rat?) on June 5 with a post about Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. The teaser video slipped out, then poof—it was gone, but not before Twitter sleuths like Wario64 snagged it. Major Sherlock Holmes energy there. We might get to see more at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, but mum’s the word for now.
The trailer hints at a launch in 2026 on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5. Kinda weird that the Switch 2 wasn’t mentioned though. Given previous releases on the Switch, wouldn’t be too wild to expect it. But who knows?
So the name, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy—it’s ringing bells that maybe, just maybe, it’s not just picking up where Requiem left off. That ending was pretty wrapped up. “Legacy” hints it might tip its hat to past events but go in a fresh direction. Plus, Sophia’s front and center in the leaked stuff. She’s a seafarer we met in Requiem. Pretty rad character. Maybe this marks a new chapter or even a spin-off instead of a straight-up sequel? The possibilities, man.
And there ya go. A leak, some guesses, and a lot of rat chat. Until the official reveal, this is where we’re stuck—speculating and dreaming. But hey, that’s half the fun, right?
