Oh man, where do I even start with this Gex thing? So, I just found out that Limited Run Games is doing their thing again, and this time it’s with the Gex Trilogy — yes, that sassy lizard is back! Was anyone else surprised? Or is it just me?
Alright, so there’s this collection that includes the original Gex (remember those 2D days?), plus the sequels: Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. Personally, I used to get lost in those games for hours. Why? No idea. Maybe it was the tail-whipping action that hooked me.
Anyway, the games are getting some fancy upgrades like this Rewind thing — which I totally would’ve needed back then — and now you can save anywhere. Maybe now I can finally beat it without rage-quitting. Oh, and Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3 are gonna be in widescreen with full 360-degree control. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal, right?
Now, the physical editions, they’re a trip. Check this out:
First up, the Standard Edition — $39.99. You get the basics: a game disc or cartridge, case, cover, and booklet. Pretty straightforward, but it gets the job done.
Then there’s the Classic Edition for $74.99. Along with the standard stuff, you also get a Steelbook, a double-sided poster, a soundtrack CD, and this cool retro-style box. Almost makes me wish I hadn’t given away my old console. Almost.
And then, the pièce de résistance — the Tail Time Edition at $199.99. Whoa. This one’s got a 36” inflatable Gex doll (for… some reason), a 7” statue, trading cards, a remote pin, the full soundtrack CD, and a fancy collector’s box with art by Yoshitaka Amano. You could really dive into the nostalgia rabbit hole with this. But hey, it’s tail time, right?
For those going digital, it’s dropping on the Nintendo eShop on June 16, 2025. Physical copies? Later in 2025, they say. If you’re itching to grab one, pre-orders are up on the Limited Run Games website until July 6, 2025. I might just splurge… or maybe I’ll think about it. Decisions, decisions.
Okay, that’s it. Did I miss anything? Probably. But that’s just how it goes sometimes!
