In a chat with The Verge, Dbrand’s CEO, Adam Ijaz, confirmed that they crafted these designs based on precise measurements gathered from a 3D scan of the actual hardware. With Joy-Cons attached, the device stretches to about 270mm in width, 116mm in height, and is 14mm thick. Without them, it measures 200mm wide.
This supposed new Switch boasts a larger 8-inch screen, a noticeable jump from the 7.2-inch of the OLED version and the original’s 6.2-inch display. There’s also a mysterious “C” button on the right Joy-Con, potentially a new capture feature, and the Joy-Cons are notably more curved and magnetically detachable. You’ll find both top and bottom USB-C ports, and it sports a wide U-shaped kickstand reminiscent of the one on the Switch OLED.
With a likely launch in the first quarter of 2025, all signs suggest we’re looking at a significant upgrade from the Switch OLED. However, it seems an OLED screen is not in the cards; leaks hint that it will come with a 1080p IPS LCD screen instead, which should hopefully deliver superior quality compared to the original Switch’s LCD.
Now, when it comes to Dbrand’s Killswitch case, there’s a shift from their typical full-body design. Given the detachable Joy-Cons, the case pieces are designed to fit around the console instead, supported by a teal bungee cord. For those of you wanting a more authentic look at the Nintendo Switch 2, while a largely unaltered view isn’t available just yet, Dbrand’s leaked specs align with a 3D-printed model reviewed by the YouTube channel SwitchUp earlier this week.
