Alright, so I guess Blumhouse and this Kinetic Games crew are cooking up a movie based on that game, Phasmophobia. Yeah, they’re teaming up with James Wan’s Atomic Monster, of all people. Wild, right?
Daniel Knight, who’s calling the shots at Kinetic, sounded super excited — almost like he had too many coffees that day. “Big news!” he said, grinning ear to ear, probably. Five years ago, they couldn’t have dreamed this, you know? It’s a humble brag really, but genuine, like when you accidentally cook the perfect pancake on your first try. And, yeah, the community around Phasmophobia? He’s all love for them. Like, full-on gratitude overload. Working with these big movie folks feels like a new chapter — or maybe a sequel?
So, the game… launched in 2020, right? Early access and all that jazz. You play as these ghost detective types. Feels a lot like those Ghost Hunters shows we used to binge, and here we are, with a movie. Could’ve seen that coming, eh?
Oh, and they’ve got this big “Chronicle” update coming. June — mark your calendars or don’t, up to you. Sounds like they’re shaking up a ton of stuff in the game. Leveling, rewards, that sort of thing. The Grafton Farmhouse is getting a facelift too. Plus, new map later this year. Exciting times, folks.
And Blumhouse, man. They’re basically horror movie royalty now, right? You’ve got those spine-tinglers like Five Nights at Freddy’s, Get Out, all the heart-stoppers. Atomic Monster’s not too shabby either, with The Conjuring and all. Feels like they’re bringing the big guns for this Phasmophobia flick.
Anyway, fingers crossed it’s as good as they’re hyping it up to be. Might just end up sneaking into a theater to see it. Who knows?
