April 2025 Update Released for Legend of the Gobbos

The April 17 update for “Croc: Legend of the Gobbos” is designed to smooth out the gaming experience with several bug fixes and enhancements. Players on different platforms can look forward to improvements in collision bugs, controls on the Nintendo Switch, visual tweaks, achievements, and frame rate issues. The development team at Argonaut Games is also working on ironing out the frame rate issues on the ASUS ROG Ally handheld.

Argonaut Games rolled out the latest update for their remastered “Croc: Legend of the Gobbos,” which aims to address various in-game problems and elevate gameplay enjoyment. Currently, it’s available for PC, with plans to extend the update to PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch soon. When the remastered 3D platformer launched, it lacked a Platinum trophy on PS4 and PS5, but it did introduce several new features to entice players. These additions include a revamped control screen, HD graphics, and Crocipedia, which serves as a treasure trove of development history with design documents, concept art, animations, and team interviews. After the game’s launch on April 2, feedback from the community helped shape this first big update.

With the release of update 1.0.4 on GOG, players can expect a smoother experience. The update, which sees a range of fixes, includes resolving issues like the oddly behaving spiky ball, and stuttery movements, while also restoring certain particle effects that were missing. Other tweaks ensure that the select screen for the island levels now correctly displays collected puzzle pieces, and the music selection aligns with the 1997 PlayStation soundtracks. Additionally, some tracks in the Crocipedia with incorrect lengths have been corrected.

The update also resolves rendering issues related to save data in “Croc: Legend of the Gobbos.” Earlier, new saves could cause the game to default to a suboptimal rendering preset, potentially affecting PC performance before this update. On top of that, PC players will note that a pesky bug causing crashes during FMVs has been squashed.

Console gamers haven’t been left out either. The Nintendo Switch version saw a lot of user feedback about its controls. To address this, Argonaut Games adjusted the button mapping for Jump, 180-degree Flip, and Attack to mirror the original design. Meanwhile, tweaks to trophies and achievements were made for PlayStation and Xbox users. However, the studio is still delving into the frame rate troubles prevalent on the ASUS ROG Ally device.
