Sony just dropped some hints about the PlayStation 6, saying it’s on their radar big time. Hard to believe, but itβs been five years since the PS5 came out. Five years! Feels like yesterday, right? Probably because those early days were all sorts of crazy with COVID-19 throwing everything into chaos. Buying a PS5 back then felt like winning some intense game show. So yeah, with all that drama, the PS5 seems younger than it is. Itβs like when you start a movie and realize itβs only just getting juicy.
Gamersβoh boy, theyβve got opinions. Some are all like, βWhereβs the beef?β because they feel like the PS5 hasnβt served up as many hits as past consoles. I mean, you’ve got God of War Ragnarok and Marvelβs Spider-Man 2… but hey, you could still snag those on a PS4. Makes you wonder why youβd shell out for a PS5. But then again, I might just be overthinking. Wait, where was I going with this? Oh right, hyping us up for the PS6 seems like a task, doesnβt it?
Fast forward to 2024, and what a ride for the PS5. Astro Bot snagged Game of the Yearβwho saw that coming? But then Concord crashed and burned. But Astro Bot hit us in the feels. Last year, despite Concord’s nosedive, was still a win for exclusives. Silent Hill 2’s remake? Pretty neat. And thereβs a bunch of cool stuff lined up, but somehow itβs not screaming, βBuy me now!β like the PS4 days. Itβs got big shoes to fill, right?
Flash forward a bit, and there’s Sarosβone of the only new exclusives for 2026. Feels like Sonyβs playing it close to the chest with what’s next. The PS5 is living in the shadow of the almighty PS4, which was a total rock star. Bloodborne, Uncharted 4… I mean, I could list more, but you get the idea. So yeah, when the PS5 was teased, people expected fireworks.
Sony juggling shortages and scrapping projects has made the PS5 story kinda patchy. Some of us are worried about whether the PS6 will have the same lackluster launch lineup. Thereβs chatter it might drop in, like, 2027 or 2028, but who can keep up with these rumors, right?
Anyway, what a wild ride itβs been. Hereβs hoping the PS6 knocks it out of the park, whenever it decides to show up.
