Sony just spilled the beans on the August 2025 freebies for PlayStation Plus subscribers, and guess what — one of the headliners is this game called Lies of P. It’s in that weird “souslike” (or should I say “soulslike”?) genre. I mean, if you’re into dark, gothic vibes with a sprinkle of Belle Époque flair — whatever that means — this one’s for you. Think Pinocchio, but with a creepy twist. You’re the puppet guy, slashing through monsters after some wild puppet revolt in Krat. Petrification epidemic, anyone?
Okay, so grabbing these games is pretty easy. Dive into one of those PlayStation Plus plans — Premium, Extra, or Essential. Just gotta be subscribed, and bam, the games are yours. They’ve been doing this day-one release thingy for three months now, dishing out stuff like Lost Records and Blue Prince. Cool, right? Or maybe it’s just me getting hyped. Anyway, seems like the streak’s not stopping.
Other than Lies of P, they’re throwing in DayZ and My Hero One’s Justice 2. DayZ puts you in this post-apocalyptic mess with 60 players, dodging infected folks. My Hero’s more of an anime brawler. Last month’s lineup? Diablo 4 and a couple of other gems. Sony’s really spreading the love across genres lately. You play on PS4 or PS5 — doesn’t matter.
Now, Lies of P itself? Built by Neowiz and Round8 Studio, it’s also on PC and Xbox. Critics loved its look and sound and, of course, its soulslike touch. Got this tough balance that, honestly, drives me nuts. Like, do I enjoy the challenge or pull my hair out?
Fast forward two years post-release, and Lies of P is killing it with sales, even spawning some expansion thing — Overture. It’s like a sneak peek into the chaos of Krat before stuff got wild. That DLC has mystery, fights, and more. A sequel’s cooking too. Excited, yet? Maybe I’m just easily entertained.
So, yeah, that’s the line-up. Messy, maybe. But isn’t that how the good stories go?
