Alright, so here’s the thing. Capcom — yeah, those folks who brought us epic games like Resident Evil and Devil May Cry — just shared some news that’s, well, kinda mind-blowing. So, they say their sales hit a whopping ¥45.5 billion (which is like $302.2 million, if you’re doing the math) in just three months up to June 30th.
Now, I mean, that’s a huge jump — 53.7% up compared to last year! And, yeah, the games they’re churning out seem to be the reason why. They’re shouting out Devil May Cry 5 and a bunch of Resident Evil titles. Oh, and let’s not forget Street Fighter 6. Apparently, Devil May Cry 5 got a sales boost thanks to its Netflix anime. I mean, who would’ve thought a TV series could do that?
So, Devil May Cry 5 hit 10.5 million in total sales — and, wait for it, 1.7 million of those were in just this past quarter. Not bad, right? On the Resident Evil side, Village soared to 12.2 million units, and Resident Evil 4 did 10.6 million. And then there’s Street Fighter 6 with five million, partly cuz it’s now on Nintendo Switch 2. I kinda miss playing these, but I digress.
When you put it all together, they moved 14.16 million units recently. That’s up 48% from last year’s 9.53 million. Makes you wonder what everyone was doing last year.
And, oh, get this — their operating profit jumped an insane 90.8% to ¥24.6 billion, which, if you’re curious, is like $163.4 million. Not gonna lie, those are some wild numbers.
