But something caught my attention. Maybe it was the color, or maybe I’m just easily distracted. Either way, Nintendo seems to be teasing reverse courses in Mario Kart World. Yeah, reverse, like, you’re driving backwards, sort of. Not mirroring the whole thing! I guess it’s supposed to add some kind of twist? Honestly, I’m not sure if it changes much, but hey, it’s something new.
I remember the days when Mario Kart 8 Deluxe had these mirrored tracks — like, that was the coolest thing back then. So, maybe this is like a next-level thing, or maybe they’re just running out of ideas. Who knows. This Mario Kart World has been in the news ever since they announced the Nintendo Switch 2. It feels like they’ve been drip-feeding us info since forever, but we finally got some meat during that Nintendo Direct in April. They talked about this new GameChat thing and a Knockout Tour race. Sounds fancy, right?
But back to the reverse courses — this commercial was spotted by, you know, some sleuths from NintendoSoup and GaplekBehemoth. Love those names. Anyway, they noticed you could race backward on the Mario Bros. Circuit. The mini-map even flips! It’s like they thought of everything. Kinda. And yeah, some folks are hoping this is confirmation of more course variations. But, Nintendo’s lips are sealed tighter than… well, something really tight.
This might mean the reverse mode could replace the old mirror mode? I dunno. The whole seamless world aspect sounds intriguing though. Imagine connecting different routes and just cruising in the opposite direction. Or getting lost on a highway, which I do often in real life, but that’s a story for another day.
And oh, Rainbow Road! Who can forget that nightmare? Well, when Mario Kart World drops on June 5, you’re gonna have to tackle all cups to get your hands on it.
