Alright, so Starfield, huh? It’s apparently blown past The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind in terms of downloads on Nexus Mods. Crazy, right? Starfield came out in 2023, and people are loving the massive universe it offers. Loads of planets, but the real kicker? Mods. Endless mods.
So yeah, folks can totally amp up their Starfield journey with mods galore. Back in 2024, one crafty modder tackled a big gripe about those boring elevator screens by making ’em work—like, actually move, you know? Fast forward to earlier this year, one mod dropped 300 new missions. Deliveries, infestations, you name it. Just when you thought you had enough, there’s more stuff to dive into. Bethesda’s game is seriously clocking in some milestone numbers here.
Pop over to the Starfield subreddit, and you’ll see user taosecurity waving the flag of victory for Bethesda’s RPG. It’s at 90.7 million downloads, which is totally nuts! Twice as many as Mount and Blade 2 mods, apparently. Who even knew? It’s already leapfrogged Monster Hunter World. That’s like, what?
Mods and Starfield, they go way back—well, a year or so. Mods officially jumped on board in 2024 when Bethesda tossed us the Creation Kit. Now, there are over 10,800 mods. Think about that. Auto-looting space junk, better inventory, smoother gameplay—all thanks to some creative folks out there. But, weird twist, some modders are…losing interest?
Bethesda dreamt big for Starfield, promising us yearly goodies. September 2024 saw the Shattered Space expansion drop, spinning new tales in Dazra city. But yeah, only one, nada more since. The latest update came out in May, lukewarm fanfare and all. But hey, plans change. We might get another expansion yet—fingers crossed, right?
And oh, a side note I almost forgot: don’t expect Starfield to be the next Cyberpunk 2077. Different beasts altogether, in all the ways that count.
Anyway, there you go. A ramble, for sure. But isn’t that what makes a story a bit more… human?
