I saw this thing today, and man, it got me thinking. NVIDIA’s got this crazy idea. They’re giving away a custom RTX 5090 GPU. Yeah, it’s wrapped in some epic DOOM: The Dark Ages artwork. Like, seriously, who comes up with this stuff? Anyway, it got me all hyped because I’m a bit of a DOOM nerd. No shame there.
So, here’s the deal. NVIDIA threw out this announcement on X (still feels weird not calling it Twitter), and they’re all like, “Hey, win this cool GPU!” It’s all tied to the launch of DOOM’s latest game. People are loving it on Steam, by the way. It’s got those mind-blowing visuals because of some fancy native ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS 4 + Reflex. Frankly, I’m not entirely sure what all those terms mean, but they sound wicked impressive.
Oh, and here’s a tweet they posted — gotta love the marketing team:
The call to action was: Stand and Fight for a chance to win. They’re celebrating the whole ray tracing thing, which I guess is a big deal? To enter, you just have to like their post and comment #RTXON. Simple, right? But then again, who remembers to do that? I feel like I’d get distracted halfway through.
Now, NVIDIA’s done these themed editions before. But they’re saying this one’s unique or something, supposedly because there ain’t much space for the art to show off. Honestly, does that matter? But if you wanna win, just go and hit those like and comment buttons. Cross your fingers.
Here’s a plot twist. Some folks can’t even enter. Places like, sorry Australian pals and folks in Quebec. Oh, and some countries in the Middle East and Asia—yep, all excluded. Guess it’s more of a selective party?
So, the cost breakdown. This Founders Edition GPU is $1999, plus the custom wrap that’s around $600. Add it up—$2599. Sounds like a lot, but when you peek at the market prices? It’s a steal! The competition runs from May 15th to May 22nd, in 2025 obviously. After that, NVIDIA’s gonna pick somebody. Hope they don’t mess up my email if it’s me, ’cause you only get 48 hours to claim it. Can you imagine missing that email? Yikes.
Anyway, what was I saying? Ah, doesn’t matter. Just put your name in the hat and maybe you’ll be the lucky one hoarding that DOOM-themed tech goodness!
