Man, so Genshin Impact is throwing some big changes our way soon. Kinda wild to think that if you’re on an old device, especially a PS4, you might be out of luck. Yep, PS4 owners, time to say goodbye ’cause they’re pulling the plug. Not gonna lie, it feels like one of those out-with-the-old, in-with-the-new moments.
So, apparently, they gave us a heads-up just this week. The tech folks over at MiHoYo talked about how the PS4’s guts aren’t quite keeping up anymore. And sure, the PS5 folks are fine — of course, they are. Anyway… PS4, nope. Nada. Starting soon, no more downloads from the PlayStation Store after September 10. But if you snagged it before then, you’re good to keep grabbing it from your library. Silver linings, right?
Now here’s the thing: come February 25, 2026 — mark your calendars or something — you won’t be able to buy anything in the game on PS4. Not even top-ups. Till then, if you’ve bought stuff, you can still pick it up in-game.
Fast forward to August 4, 2026, and it’s all over for PS4 support. Completely. I guess they’re moving on to shinier, newer consoles and tech. No point crying over spilled milk, but it stings a bit.
Meanwhile, they’re cranking up the system specs for PC and mobile too. If your device falls short, you might still run the game, but brace for hiccups and glitches. Something about future updates not playing nice with old hardware. Figures.
And oh, just last week, they dropped update 5.8. Some new folks to play as or whatever — Ineffa, Citlali, and Mualani. If you’re diving in, check out some build recommendations, maybe. Anyway — was I complaining too much? C’est la vie, I guess.
