Alright, so here goes nothing. Let’s dive into this chaotic tale of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny. You know, it’s been like, forever since it first came out in 2002. Seriously, time flies. Anyway, this sequel to the awesomely epic Onimusha: Warlords is back, and it’s throwing us right back into the whole Sengoku-era madness. We’ve got a new hero — Jubei Yagyu. He’s on this wild revenge journey. Because, well, what else do samurais do?
Fast forward ten years since Onimusha: Warlords. Nobunaga Oda, that demon overlord dude, is flexing his muscles again, aiming to crush Japan starting with Yagyu Village. And, of course, Jubei comes home to find everything just utterly trashed. So, what now? He bolts off aiming to take Nobunaga down. Along the way, he hooks up with this quirky group of four allies. They’re a pretty mixed bag and can swing the story in all sorts of directions depending on what you do – or don’t, which seems typical of these games.
Oh, gifts! I almost forgot about those. There’s this whole thing about collecting and giving gifts to win over these allies. Some you buy, some you just stumble upon. Choose wisely though, because each ally’s got their own cutesy little preferences. Mess it up, and who knows — maybe they’ll just roll their eyes at you or something.
Caught up with Capcom’s crew asking them about their top gift reactions. Definitely something to keep in mind if you’re playing. Seriously, just imagine a Buddhist priest, Ekei, who’s got this whole affair with money, drinks, and well, let’s just say he loves a good party. Hand him a fan or some musical fancy thing, and he’ll boogie down for you — quite a scene, right?
And oh, there’s Magoichi, this super brainy leader of a gun squad who loves books — but not just one. Try giving him one random book, and he’s like, “No, thanks, I kind of want the whole set.” Like, who reads just one book, you know?
Then there’s Kotaro, this young ninja, more of a ‘been-there-done-that’ kind of kid. Gift him something like a Tengu mask, and he’s bound to make you want to just crawl into a hole with his savage comebacks about how it’s for the oldies.
Let’s not forget the mysterious Oyu. She’s wrapped in this Western armor — pretty cool, huh? But hand her “The Art of War,” and she might just give you the side-eye. Trust issues or just plain weirdness? Meh, who knows.
Oh, but darling, the plot thickens. Sometimes, when you line up certain gifts perfectly — magic happens. Who knew raw fish could jazz up wasabi and Magoichi in some brilliant way? Talk about peculiar combinations making sparks fly, huh?
Ekei’s got hair issues. Yeah, weird, I know. Gift him anything remotely related to haircare, and it’s like poking a bear. Why someone would want to test his temper like that is beyond me.
So, keep digging in Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny because there’s a whole boatload of gifts and fun responses waiting for you. The remastered version’s out now for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, with jazzed-up graphics and more. It’s time to reclaim whatever destiny awaits, right?
Wrapping up with some jazz like the Onimusha 1+2 Pack offering both games in all their HD glory with some pretty sweet enhancements. And some mind-blowing orchestral tracks to groove to. But hey, don’t jump the gun and buy it twice just because I got you all hyped up.
Man, this game’s like a blast from the past, but with a shiny new click of a samurai sword. Enjoy!
